Cardiac Risk Factors:

1. Family history of heart disease or stroke before age 60
2. Obesity, BMI>30 kg/M2(body mass index, weight in kilos divided by height in (meters)2)
3. Tobacco use
4. Diabetes
5. Hypertension
6. poor stress management  and sedentary lifestyle.
7. High cholesterol
 

Target Cholesterol levels: LDL's

LDL<160  for low risk individuals
LDL<130 for patients with two or more risk factors.
LDL<100 for patients with known heart disease, diabetics, and smokers.

HDL>40 for everybody

Triglycerides<150 for everybody

Total Cholesterol<200 for everybody
